DIY Glass Cleaner and Dishwasher Pods

Cleaning doesn't have to involve harsh chemicals or expensive products. Some things can be made from home with simple ingredients. This may even save you a trip to the store the next time you run out of cleaning products.

Glass Cleaner

This is great in a pinch and is very budget friendly option.

Supplies: Reusable Spray Bottle, Funnel

Ingredients: Distilled White Vinegar, Warm Water, Dish Soap (optional)

The recipe for glass cleaner is one part distilled white vinegar and one part warm water. You could add a drop of dish soap if needed. I usually do this for dirtier outside windows. Add the ingredients to your reusable spray bottle, shake and it is ready to use.

Dishwasher Pods

These are fun to make and are a fraction of the cost of store bought pods. Also, they are eco-friendly.

DIY Dishwasher PODS

SuppliesSilicone Ice Trays, Mixing Bowl, Spoon, Airtight Container

Ingredients: 3/4 Cup of Lemon Juice, 1 Cup of Baking Soda, 1 Cup of Washing Soda, 1 Cup of Salt

Steps
  1. Add 1 cup of baking soda, 1 cup of washing soda, and 1 cup of salt. Stir well so everything is combined.
  2. Add 3/4 cup of lemon juice and mix until the dry ingredients are saturated. It will fizz once the juice is added.
  3. Wait for the fizzing to stop then pack the mixture into the ice trays. Make sure there are no air holes or it will crumble.
  4. Leave it on the counter in the ice trays to dry for at least 12 hours.
  5. Once it is dry, pop them out of the tray and place in an airtight container.
